Consecutive interpreting

TransAnglo Grzegorz Piatkowski

Consecutive interpreting requires the ability to listen with understanding, focus attention, process information quickly and an excellent memory.

Translating a fragment of text after the speaker. The interpreter listens and (most often) takes notes, and then interprets into the target language during the breaks in the original speech. Note that this mode of translation doubles the duration of an event.

Consecutive interpreting from and into English may include, but is not limited to:

  • trade negotiations
  • board meetings
  • business meetings
  • trainings
  • galas
  • meetings with foreign artists
